This decade's hottest vampire franchise totally ruled the night, taking home several awards including Best Movie, Best Kiss, Best Breakthrough Performance Male (Robert Pattinson), Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart) and Best Fight. Around this same time last year, not too many people knew who Taylor Lautner was. He showed up for 2008's San Diego Comic-Con Twilight panel, but everyone was busy fawning over the British bloke who made all the girls squeal every time he opened his mouth. Lautner's come a long way since then as the fan-proclaimed mascot of Team Jacob, and this time, New Moon shines the spotlight on him.
This ridiculously buff 17-year-old wasn't afraid to joke around with us—he has a contagious, giddy laugh and energetic persona that embodies Stephenie Meyer's coming-of-age werewolf. It's been nearly two months since our two-day Vancouver Film Studios set visit for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and I'm about to burst! It's been a real challenge to keep my mouth shut for so long on really juicy secrets—the Voluturi! Oh the Volturi! They're straight from the pages of Stephenie Meyer's book! The freaky red eyes, pale skin, the chic Italian clothes, a family crest pendant – everything down to the smallest detail — suits their coven perfectly. They make a deliciously deadly vampire mafia. We got to watch Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart film a bunch of scenes near the film's ending, and also interviewed a LOT of the cast and crew: Taylor Lautner, Michael Sheen, and Rachelle Lefevre to name a few. In a bleach blond wig offset with stylish, dark attire, British actor Jamie Campbell Bower stands outside the sound studio on the Vancouver set of New Moon, having a cigarette break and waiting to be called in to shoot. His previous role in Sweeney Todd, and buzz from his upcoming part as Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows haven't quite thrust him into the stratosphere of fame yet, but playing Caius, a member of the Volturi, might do the job. We grab him for a moment to ask him about his mysterious character, what it's like to be a part of the Twilight phenomenon and what plans he has for his musical career. Most camped out overnight. Some spent two nights outside the San Diego Convention Center. They wore homemade T-shirts, made friends with fellow fans and talked about their allegiance to Team Edward or Team Jacob.
